Today you brave, hardy, loyal few, we are taking a trip, back through time and onward to the seaside by steam train. Enjoy!
A trip to the sea, for fish and chips on the pier, leave the car parked here
Let us go by train an adventure, excitement! We shall eat ice cream
No one for luggage? We shall find a kind porter. He was supping tea!
The cases are piled For just a few days away to the sea. The sea!
I see the train now, but no smoke is yet rising. How long do we wait?
The coal is shovelled, the stoker sweats, driver calls "All fired up there mate?"
The air is choking, black smoke puffing, we hop from one foot to other
The luggage loaded carriages joined ready, we're off. The seaside, hooray
Out through the tunnel clickety clack, whistle blows smoke billows and swirls
The pier is waiting fish and chip tea, tomorrow a dip in the sea
Thank you for joining me for this very British old fashioned trip to the seaside, I hope you enjoyed it. I look forward to engaging with you in comments, your poems and thoughts always delight and inspire me.
