Once more brave souls you return. Today let us examine our creative spirit. How do we express ourselves and allow our creativity to flow? Do we write words that speak to the souls of others? Sing songs that bring tears or comfort? Do we grow plants, cook divine dishes, paint pictures? Whatever your faith I think we might agree that Stained Glass is a divine expression of the creative joy of mankind. That they have been inspired by a faith or story that may not connect to you? That’s okay. How can we not be awed by the abilities of our species to do amazing things.
Faith, death or absurd? Let us choose faith and worship. Create your image
We shall tell stories of miracles and glory rejoice in beauty
We shall celebrate bravery, strength, and spirit. Determination
Sacred hallowed ground holy in silence and song our creative gifts
Working together we can achieve miracles say we are blessed
From whence do they come? Our gifts, our talents, our joy? Universal spark
We are delicate fragile, easily broken Complex manifest
Even arrogance can be made this beautiful. Colourful symbols
Sunlight pours through you. I am covered in rainbows, made magnificent
Delicate etchings replace colourful pieces with simplicity

I hope you enjoyed today’s collection of photos. There will be a further post on stained glass from a historical viewpoint. No moaning now, it’s good for us to learn stuff. I look forward to hearing your thoughts or inspirations in the comments.

The last picture comes from a church in the heart of Dorset, St. Nicholas in Moreton. The final resting place of Lawrence of Arabia. The church was bombed in the second world war and the stained glass lost. The beautifully etched windows that replaced it are quite stunning but difficult to photograph! Try searching for images online.
Lastly, a small gallery of photos that didn’t make my final selection.
Excellent work as always, April-I have always looked at stained glass, not so much is a religious expression but more like telling a story on a canvas that can last beyond the ages of those who were inspired to create it. It just happens to have been done in houses of worship because those were the places with the greatest chance of drawing a large audience. But what the hell do I know ?
“From whence do they come?
Our gifts, our talents, our joy?
Universal spark”
— from whence indeed! That question is a source of endless wonder for me. I feel like we get closer look at who or what we really are through our creations and by pondering where they came from.
Thanks April :)
